Potable water supply for Muchea Employment Node and Riverside Residential Estate

Arris and GromEng have partnered to project manage the design and construction of a new water treatment plant and water supply network in Muchea, Western Australia. The treatment plant will provide potable water to the new Muchea Employment Node (MEN) and a rural residential Estate at Riverside.

High quality potable water treatment plant design, management, and construction

As part of delivery for this project, Arris completed a Drinking Water Source Protection Plan for approval by the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation. As part of the DWSP Plan, Arris:

  • Defined the groundwater influence zone for the Leederville water supply bore;
  • Assessed the risks to the groundwater supply from neighbouring land use activities;
  • Analysed water quality to determine treatment methods;
  • Developed a groundwater monitoring program to manage and protect water quality; and
  • Identified required water supply protection zones.

Arris and GromENG have managed and delivered:

  • All contractors and subcontractors including quoting;
  • Site preparation works including construction pads, access tracks and security fencing;
  • Construction of treated water storage tanks;
  • Construction of treatment plant shed including approvals;
  • Pipeline delivery route;
  • Bore construction, pump testing and approvals; and
  • Infrastructure inspection and handovers.

The treatment regime designed includes the use of chlorine to oxidise iron and manganese, deep-bed sand filtration, green sands for further polishing to remove any remaining iron and manganese, sodium hypochlorite to pH trim, and chlorine and UV disinfection.
